Best betting apps UK: what we compare and what we do not
The card lists ten UK-licensed bookmakers and marks whether each has an app. We do not rank the apps, test them on a handset or score them out of ten. A score would suggest a precision we cannot back up, and an app changes with every update. What we can do is read each bookmaker’s own pages, record what they state about iPhone and Android, and tell you where we found nothing clear.
The table below is the result. It says what the pages say and no more. Where a store listing could not be confirmed, the cell reads “Check terms”, “Not confirmed” or “Unclear”, and the sentence beside it says why. Store listings differ by country, so make sure the one you install is the UK version.
| Bookmaker | iPhone | Android | What the pages say |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ladbrokes | Yes | Yes | Sports app for UK customers; accumulators, cash-out and My Bets sit in the app |
| William Hill | Yes | Yes | Free app with a published download and login guide; streaming, Bet Builder and cash-out described in it |
| Betfred | Yes | Yes | App Store and Google Play; lists PickYourPunt Builder, cash-out and in-play |
| Coral | Yes | Not confirmed | UK App Store listing under Entain; no clean current Google Play link found, and older pages describe a file download |
| BetVictor | Yes | Yes | Official app page for iOS and Android; separate store listings for sportsbook and casino |
| BoyleSports | Check terms | Check terms | App needed for BoyleXtra; the site has a download section, and we did not find the store listing |
| Midnite | Yes | Yes | App Store and Google Play badges on its site |
| LeoVegas | Check terms | Check terms | Pages mention Apple and Android apps; the UK sportsbook listing was not confirmed |
| NetBet | Yes | Unclear | UK App Store listing from NetBet Enterprises Limited; one page describes an Android file download, and a Google Play listing also appears |
| Fitzdares | Yes | Not confirmed | Racing bets can be placed through its iPhone app, by its own account |
How to download a betting app safely
Open the App Store on an iPhone or Google Play on an Android phone, search for the bookmaker’s name and look at the publisher. It should be the licensed company or its group, for example the company on the Gambling Commission register entry that we link in each review. The page for the app should name the company and show the usual store details such as age rating, size and update history.
Do not install from a link in a text message, an email or an advert you did not look for. A look-alike app or site can copy a bookmaker’s logo and ask for your login or card details. If you receive a link, close it, open the store yourself and search.
Some bookmakers have described a direct download of an app file for Android outside the store. It is not the usual route and it asks you to allow installs from unknown sources in your phone settings. We recorded such pages where they exist, for example at Coral and NetBet, and the rest of this section applies to them: use a file download only if the bookmaker’s own site tells you to, check the address in the browser is the bookmaker’s, and turn the setting off again afterwards.
Once the app is installed, look at what it asks to do. A betting app needs your account details and sometimes your location. It does not need your contacts. If a permission seems unrelated to betting, decline it and see whether the app still works.
The ten apps, one by one
Ladbrokes. The pages describe a sports app for UK customers on iPhone and Android. They point you to the My Bets area for accumulators, cash-out and removing losing legs. The UK store listing is the one to install.
William Hill. The app is free and the company publishes a guide to downloading it and logging in. Its Best Odds Guaranteed opt-in is a switch on the race card in the app, so it is easy to miss before a race.
Betfred. There is an app on the App Store and on Google Play. Its page names PickYourPunt Builder, cash-out and in-play betting. The Acca Insurance it also mentions is a promotion with conditions.
Coral. The iPhone app is on the UK App Store under Entain, the same group as Ladbrokes. For Android we found no clean current store link, and older pages describe a file download, so check which route the bookmaker points you to today.
BetVictor. There is an official app page for iOS and Android. The sportsbook and the casino have separate store listings, so install the sportsbook one for your country.
BoyleSports. The app is needed for BoyleXtra, and the website has a download section for phone and tablet. We did not find a store listing in our searches, so go through the download section.
Midnite. The site shows App Store and Google Play badges and invites you to download the app or open an account online. The pages describe its help centre well, which is useful if the app causes trouble.
LeoVegas. The pages mention an app for Android and Apple devices, but we could not confirm the UK sportsbook listing. A LeoVegas casino app and its sportsbook are separate things, so make sure you install the right one.
NetBet. NetBet Enterprises Limited lists a sports betting app on the UK App Store. For Android the pages disagree: one describes a file download, another shows a Google Play listing.
Fitzdares. The pages say racing bets can be placed through an iPhone app, the website, by text or by phone. We could not confirm an Android app.
App or mobile site
A betting app and a mobile site use the same account. The app is faster to open, can use your fingerprint or face to log in, and can send notifications. The site needs no install and takes no space on the phone. For a bettor who places a few bets a month, the site may be enough. Someone who bets in play will notice the difference in speed.
Features can differ between the two. A bookmaker may offer cash-out, a bet builder or a stream in the app and not on the site, or the other way round. Check the pages of the bookmaker for the feature you want before you choose where to bet, and see our football and horse racing guides for what the ten say about cash-out and streaming.
Features worth checking inside a betting app
Look first at the account area. Deposit limits, loss limits, time-outs and self-exclusion should be easy to find. A reality check that reminds you how long you have been logged in is a tool, not an interruption. Then look at the bet history, which should show every bet with its stake, price and result.
Next look at the features that matter to how you bet. Cash-out is not on every bet, and the app shows a figure that changes with the market. A Best Odds Guaranteed promotion may need to be switched on in the app before the race, as it does at William Hill. Notifications for offers can be turned off in the phone’s settings, and it is worth doing that if you do not want to be reminded to bet.
Finally, check the version. Update the app when the store asks you to. An old version can miss security fixes, and a new one can change where things are, so read what the update says.
Common mistakes with betting apps
The first is installing from the wrong place: a link in a message, a result for a different country’s store, or a file from a site that only looks like the bookmaker. The second is staying logged in on a phone that other people use, which leaves your balance and your card in reach of anyone who picks it up. The third is betting or depositing on public Wi-Fi, where it is safer to use your mobile data or a network you trust.
The fourth is skipping updates, so that a bug or a security fix sits waiting. The fifth is trusting a screenshot of a cash-out figure: the number in the app moves with the market, and the bet is settled by the bookmaker’s terms, not by what the screen showed a moment before. The sixth is leaving notifications on and treating each one as a reason to bet. A betting app is a tool you open on purpose.
Staying in control on a betting app
An app makes betting fast, and that is its risk. A bet takes two taps and a fingerprint. Set a deposit limit before your first deposit, keep to a budget you can afford to lose, and turn off notifications that push you to bet. If you find yourself opening the app without a reason, take a break from the account settings.
GamStop blocks every licensed UK online gambling site at once, for a period you choose. GambleAware offers free, confidential support. Betting is for people aged 18 and over.
Logging in and keeping the account secure
Use a password you do not use anywhere else. Turn on the extra login step if the bookmaker offers one, and use your phone’s fingerprint or face login only on a phone that nobody else uses. Do not share your login. If you get a message that says your account is closed and asks you to click, do not click. Open the app yourself.
We are not a bookmaker. We cannot log you in, and the links on this site that read Visit Here lead to the bookmaker’s own home page, where you log in on the bookmaker’s own address. If an app asks you to log in through a page that is not the bookmaker’s, close it.
Apps for bookmakers that are not on our card
Earlier pages on this site covered apps from bet365, Paddy Power and 888sport. Those bookmakers are not among the ten on our card, so we no longer review their apps. For any bookmaker, ours or not, the register check on our new betting sites page shows how to confirm that it holds a Gambling Commission licence before you install its app.
For the ten on our card, the reviews say more about each app and about cash-out, payments and the regulator’s record. Start with the reviews hub, and see how we compare betting sites for the method behind the card. The main comparison lists all ten.
How this page was put together
The table is a summary of what each bookmaker’s own pages and store listings stated when we read them in October 2026, with the same sources as the reviews. We did not install or test the apps. A value we could not confirm is shown as such. Terms and store listings change, so the page is updated every month and the date at the top is the month of the last update.
Questions about betting apps
Which betting app is best?
There is no single best. The table shows what each bookmaker’s pages say about its app, and the card shows cash-out and Best Odds Guaranteed. Pick the one whose features you use and that is on your phone’s official store.
Are betting apps free to download?
The apps on our card are free to download from the store. Bets and deposits are what cost money, so set a deposit limit before you start.
Is it safe to download a betting app from a link in a message or an advert?
No. Open your phone’s App Store or Google Play and search for the bookmaker, then check that the publisher is the licensed company. A link in a message can lead to a look-alike.
Why is there no Android store link for some of them?
We only record what the operator’s own pages state. Some pages describe a direct download of a file, which is not the usual route. Use it only if the bookmaker’s own site tells you to, and nothing else.
Does the app have the same features as the website?
Often, but not always. Cash-out, Bet Builder and streaming can differ between the app and the site, so check the operator’s pages for the feature you want.
Can I set deposit limits in the app?
Every UK-licensed bookmaker has to offer them. They are usually in the account or safer gambling section. Set one before your first deposit.
Where is the bet365, Paddy Power or 888sport app?
Those bookmakers are not on our card, so we do not review their apps. The register check on our new betting sites page works on any UK site.
How do I log in to a betting app?
Use the bookmaker’s own app or the address you type yourself. We are not a bookmaker and cannot log you in.
