William Hill review: streaming, cash-out and how withdrawals work

William Hill publishes more detail on payments than most bookmakers, which makes it easier to review fairly. This page uses its own help centre, and marks what we could not find.

How William Hill compares with the other bookmakers on the card

William Hill is one of six on our card that confirm a general Best Odds Guaranteed promotion. It is the only one of the six, as far as our research found, whose guarantee depends on an opt-in switch on the race card. It also publishes the clearest withdrawal times of any bookmaker we looked at, which counts for a lot if you plan to take money out quickly.

For the full comparison see the main page. For a racing-first view, the racing page lists the guarantee first.

A worked example of the opt-in point

Suppose you take 7/2 on a horse at 9am, forget to tick the guarantee, and it starts at 5/1. A ten-pound win bet pays forty-five pounds at 7/2, not at 5/1, which would have returned sixty. The difference of fifteen pounds is the cost of one unticked box. With the box ticked the bet is paid at 5/1.

The same bet on a horse that starts at 3/1 pays at 7/2 either way. The guarantee only ever lifts a price.

Three things to check before you register

Check whether you will need live racing, because that needs a qualifying bet of at least a pound. Check the withdrawal route you intend to use against the table of times on the help page. And check that your bets will be on markets that can be cashed out, since each-way racing bets cannot.

Who runs it and how it is licensed

The online sportsbook is operated by WHG (International) Limited, which holds remote licences on the Gambling Commission register under account number 39225. The register lists its trading name as William Hill Online. A separate company, William Hill Organization Limited, sits on the register for the shops, so a reader who looks up the brand may see two entries. For an online account, 39225 is the one that applies.

The regulator’s record

The register lists one regulatory action against WHG (International) Limited. On 7 August 2025 the Commission imposed a financial penalty of £82,687 for failing to comply with a licence condition on identifying individual customers (remote), following an investigation into a key event submission. The register entry states the finding; we have not summarised the Commission’s full public statement.

A penalty is not a revocation. The licence is active, and the operator remains on this card. A reader is entitled to know the record exists and to decide what weight to give it. The card’s Register record column links the entry, and the same column links the entries of the other nine bookmakers.

Sports, Bet Builder and racing

William Hill covers football, racing and the other main sports. Its Bet Builder joins several selections from one event into a single bet, and the help centre says both Bet Builder and cash-out work in the app wherever they are offered on the website. A horse racing Bet Builder has its own guidance page on the William Hill news site, which is worth reading before you use it because racing builds follow different rules from football ones.

Watching: WHTV and live racing

William Hill has a streaming service, WHTV, for account holders. Its help page sets the conditions: for most live events an active balance is enough, while live racing needs a qualifying bet of at least £1 on a qualifying race. That is a useful line to know before a Saturday card. A stream is not a reason to open an account, but it is a reason to read the rule before you assume you can watch for free.

Cash-out

Cash-out is offered on eligible bets once they are live, from the open bets tab. For racing, the help pages are specific: it is available on win-only singles and on multiples, including Trixie, Yankee, Lucky 15 and bigger full-cover bets, but not on each-way bets or the win part of an each-way bet. It is automated and depends on the market being open. Each Way Extra bets are excluded.

Best Odds Guaranteed

On UK and Irish racing, William Hill pays the better of your price and the starting price on the win market, for customers who have opted in. The opt-in is a switch on the race card, on the website or in the app, so it is easy to forget. The promotion starts at 8am on the day, has a daily cap on the extra payout, and does not cover ante-post, Tote or pari-mutuel bets, Bet Builder bets, or cases where a non-runner sends prices back to SP.

The opt-in step is the practical trap. A bettor who assumes the guarantee is automatic can miss it. Tick it before you place the bet.

To see what a price move or a withdrawn horse does to a winning bet at William Hill, step through our explainers: how Best Odds Guaranteed pays on a racing bet and how a Rule 4 deduction cuts a winning bet.

Payments and withdrawals

This is where William Hill is clearest. The UK help pages list the options and the times. Debit card deposits are immediate. Withdrawals to a Visa Direct card take around four hours, while other cards usually take one to three working days depending on the bank. PayPal, Skrill and Neteller deposits are immediate and withdrawals take one working day. Pay By Bank deposits are immediate, and withdrawals take from immediate to one working day. Bank transfer withdrawals take three to five working days, and bank transfer deposits were discontinued in March 2022. Paysafecard works for deposits only, and withdrawals go to a bank account.

These times are the operator’s own statement and they can change. Your first withdrawal may also wait for identity checks, which no payment method speeds up.

The app

The William Hill app is free on iPhone and Android, and the company publishes a guide to downloading it and logging in. Streaming, Bet Builder and cash-out are described as available in the app.

Support: what we found and did not find

The contact details that came up were for the shops, not for online accounts, so we are not printing them. For an online account the help centre points you to its FAQ. We found no confirmed live chat or phone hours.

Who it suits, and where it falls short

William Hill suits a bettor who wants clear published withdrawal times and a bookmaker that streams. The Best Odds Guaranteed opt-in and the rule that live racing needs a bet are small points that reward reading the terms.

Its limits: cash-out is missing on each-way racing bets, the guarantee excludes Bet Builder, and the online support channels are not as clearly published as the payments.

Pages this review is based on

This William Hill review draws on 4 pages from William Hill’s own domains and on its Gambling Commission register entry (account 39225), read in October 2026. We did not open an account or place a bet. The terms that apply to a bet are the ones William Hill shows when you place it. Pages read: Best Odds Guaranteed (help centre), WHTV streaming service, Deposit and withdrawal options, Gambling Commission register: WHG (International) Limited. If a section of this William Hill review says we could not confirm something, we found no clear current statement, and the table shows “Check terms” where that applies.
