What the comparison shows

Pick two of the ten UK-licensed bookmakers on our card and the table lines them up row by row. It shows who holds the licence and since when, whether the Gambling Commission register lists any regulatory action, whether the bookmaker offers cash-out, what its pages say about an iPhone or Android app and whether it runs Best Odds Guaranteed, with the start time where we confirmed one. Each column links to the full review and to the bookmaker.

It is a comparison of facts we could read on the operators’ own pages and on the register, and it does not rank them. The default order of our cards puts the bookmakers with the most confirmed features first, and this page has no order at all: you choose the two. Where we could not confirm a feature the cell says so, as “Check terms”, “Not confirmed” or “Unclear”, instead of a guess.

How to read each row

Licensee on the register. The company that holds the licence. It can differ from the brand: Ladbrokes and Coral are both operated by LC International Limited, and Betfred by Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited. Two brands with the same licensee share their register record, because it belongs to the company.

Gambling Commission account. The number of the licensee on the public register, linked so that you can read the entry yourself. Always check a bookmaker’s licence on the register rather than only on its own site.

Remote betting licence effective from. The date from which the current licence record runs, read on the register. It is not the date a brand started trading, and several licences share 1 November 2014. Our new betting sites page explains how to read it.

Register record. The number of regulatory actions the register lists for the licensee, with the years, linked to the entry. An action can be a financial penalty or a settlement and it does not mean the licence has been removed. Read the entry before weighing it.

Cash-out. Whether the bookmaker offers early settlement on selected bets. It is never on every bet and it can be withdrawn at any moment. “Limited” means the pages describe it as limited.

Best Odds Guaranteed. Whether the bookmaker pays a winning racing bet at the starting price when that is bigger than your price, open to customers in general. A bookmaker with an invitation-only or selected-accounts guarantee shows “No”, with the condition in brackets. Our Best Odds Guaranteed guide explains it.

Mobile app. What the bookmaker’s pages say about an iPhone app and an Android app. “Check terms” or “Not confirmed” means we found no clear current store listing, and the betting apps page says what we found.

Pairs worth comparing

Some pairs show the differences clearly. Ladbrokes and Coral belong to the same group and share a licensee, so the licence and register rows match, and the differences are in the features: both offer cash-out and Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am. William Hill and Betfred both have regulatory entries on the register, one action for William Hill and two for Betfred, and both run the guarantee from 8am, William Hill by opt-in.

Midnite and Fitzdares are both listed with “No” for Best Odds Guaranteed, because Midnite’s is by invitation and Fitzdares’ is for selected accounts, and both start at 9am. They differ in age: Midnite’s current licence runs from August 2026 and Fitzdares’ from 2009. NetBet and LeoVegas show where our data runs out: for both we could not confirm a general racing guarantee, and for both the Android app is not confirmed or unclear.

The ten at a glance

The table on this page compares two at a time. For a quick view of each bookmaker on its own, here is what the rows say, with a link to a comparison with a bookmaker that is a natural counterpart.

Ladbrokes. Ladbrokes is operated by LC International Limited, the same licensee as Coral, with a current licence record from 1 July 2019 and no regulatory actions listed on the register. It offers cash-out and BOG from 8am, and its pages describe an app for iPhone and Android. Compare it with Coral.

William Hill. William Hill’s licensee is WHG (International) Limited, with a licence record from 1 November 2014 and one regulatory action on the register, a 2025 financial penalty. It offers cash-out, a BOG that you switch on from 8am, and an app on iPhone and Android. Compare it with Betfred.

Betfred. Betfred’s licensee is Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited, licensed since 1 November 2014, with two regulatory actions on the register, one in 2025 and one in 2026. It has cash-out, BOG on UK and Irish racing from 8am, with the races covered set out on its promotion page, and an app on the App Store and Google Play. Compare it with William Hill.

Coral. Coral shares its licensee, LC International Limited, and its 1 July 2019 licence record with Ladbrokes, with no actions on the register. It offers cash-out, the BOG promotion from 8am and an iPhone app, while its Android route is not confirmed. Compare it with Ladbrokes.

BetVictor. BetVictor’s licensee is BV Gaming Limited, licensed since 1 November 2014 with no actions on the register. It offers cash-out on accumulators up to a limit, BOG on UK and Irish racing, and an app for iOS and Android with separate store listings for the sportsbook and the casino. Compare it with BoyleSports.

BoyleSports. BoyleSports’ licensee is Boylesports Enterprise, licensed since 1 November 2014 with no actions on the register. It offers cash-out, the best-price guarantee on racing from 8am and an app that is needed for its BoyleXtra card, though we did not find the store listing. Compare it with BetVictor.

Midnite. Midnite’s licensee is Midnite Limited, with a licence record from 11 August 2026 and no actions on the register. It offers cash-out, a BOG that is by invitation only and starts at 9am, and shows App Store and Google Play badges on its site. Compare it with Fitzdares.

LeoVegas. LeoVegas’ licensee is LeoVegas Gaming PLC, licensed for real-event betting since 29 April 2016 with no actions on the register. It offers cash-out. We could not confirm a general racing guarantee or its UK sportsbook app listing. Compare it with NetBet.

NetBet. NetBet’s licensee is Netbet Enterprises Limited, licensed since 8 December 2017, with one regulatory action on the register, a 2025 settlement. It offers cash-out and has an iPhone app on the UK App Store, with an Android route that is unclear, and we could not confirm a general racing guarantee. Compare it with LeoVegas.

Fitzdares. Fitzdares’ licensee is Fitzdares Limited, licensed for betting since 2009 with no actions on the register. It offers cash-out, a BOG for selected accounts from 9am, and an iPhone app, with Android not confirmed. Compare it with Midnite.

What the comparison does not show

It does not show odds, because prices differ by market and by day and a figure on a page would be out of date within hours. It does not show offers, which change often and carry conditions, so each row on the cards links to the operator’s terms. It does not show the depth of markets, how fast an app is or how quickly withdrawals are paid, because we could not confirm the last of these for most of the ten. For those, open an account only after reading the operator’s own pages, and use the reviews as a starting point.

How to choose between two bookmakers

Start with what you bet on. A racing bettor can compare the Best Odds Guaranteed row and its start time, and then the cash-out row. A football bettor can look at cash-out and the football betting sites guide, which says more about bet builders. If you bet from a phone, the app row and the apps page matter most.

Then look at the licence rows. Both bookmakers should be licensed in Great Britain, and the register link lets you confirm it. A record on the register is not a reason to rule a bookmaker out, and it is a reason to read the entry and the review. Finally, read the bookmaker’s terms for the feature you care about, because they decide how your bet is settled.

The choice does not have to be one or the other. Many bettors hold accounts with two bookmakers, because prices on the same event differ and a second account gives a second price to take. If you do, the comparison is a way of seeing what each one adds: one may have the guarantee from 8am and the other a stronger cash-out, or one may carry a register record you want to read before you deposit. Two brands with the same licensee, such as Ladbrokes and Coral, add less to each other on the licence rows than two from different groups.

Set limits before you choose

Comparing two bookmakers is the easy part of betting. Whichever you pick, set a deposit limit before your first deposit, bet within a budget you can afford to lose, and take a break if it stops being fun. Betting is for people aged 18 and over. GambleAware gives free and confidential support, and GamStop blocks every licensed UK site in one registration. Our method page explains how the cards and tools are built.

Questions about comparing bookmakers

Which bookmaker is best?

There is no single best. The table shows what each one’s own pages and the register say, and the answer depends on what you bet on and how you bet.

Why do two bookmakers show the same licensee?

Some brands belong to one company. Ladbrokes and Coral are both operated by LC International Limited, so their licence and register rows are the same.

What does Register record mean?

The number of regulatory actions the Gambling Commission register lists for the licensee, with the years. It links to the entry. An action does not mean the licence has gone.

Why does a bookmaker with an invitation-only guarantee show No?

Because the guarantee is not open to customers in general. The condition is shown in brackets.

Does the comparison show odds or offers?

No. Odds change by market and by day, and offers change often and carry conditions. Read the bookmaker’s own terms.

Can I share a comparison?

Yes. The page address updates when you choose, so you can copy it and send it.
