How we compare betting sites

This page explains how the comparison cards on onlinebettingsites.co.uk are put together, what they leave out, and where the limits are. It is written for readers who want to know what stands behind a list before they act on it. Jump to affiliate links and independence, or see the reviews that follow the same method.
What the cards compare
Each card lists ten bookmakers and describes each one by three features: whether it offers cash-out, whether it has a betting app, and whether it runs a Best Odds Guaranteed promotion on horse racing. We chose those three because they are the features a bettor can check on the operator’s own pages, and because they change how a bet behaves after it is placed.
We do not give the bookmakers a score or a star rating. A score would suggest a precision we cannot back up, and it would invite readers to treat a number as a verdict. The default order shows the operators with the most confirmed features first and then sorts by name. The ticks above each card narrow it to the bookmakers that have a feature. The order is not a rating.
Register record. Beside the three features, each row shows how many regulatory actions the Gambling Commission’s public register lists for the bookmaker’s licensee, with a link to the entry. We read each entry in October 2026. The column is a count and a link, not a score: an action can be a financial penalty or a settlement for failings that were put right, and the licence can remain active. The reviews of the three bookmakers with an entry say what the register states. Read the entry itself before you weigh it.
What every bookmaker has to meet
The first requirement is a licence from the UK Gambling Commission. It is an entry condition, not a point in a ranking. We list only bookmakers that hold one, and the Commission’s public register is where you can confirm it for yourself.
The second is that the operator is one we are able to describe from its own published pages. Where an operator’s pages were not available to us, or an old page contradicted a newer one, we show “Check terms” in the cell instead of a Yes or No. We prefer an honest gap to a guess.
How we read the features
Cash-out. A bookmaker counts as offering it when its own help pages or rules describe it for sports bets. Cash-out is always limited: it appears on selected bets and events, can be switched off at any time, and is often unavailable on each-way bets or bets placed with free-bet funds. A “Yes” in the table means the feature exists, not that it is available on every bet.
App. A bookmaker counts as having one when there is an iPhone or Android listing for sports betting, or its own pages say so. Store listings differ by country and change often.
Best Odds Guaranteed. This is a horse racing promotion: if you take an early price and the starting price is bigger, you are paid at the starting price. A bookmaker shows “Yes” when it offers the promotion to customers in general on UK and Irish racing. It shows “No” when the operator offers it only by invitation or only to selected accounts. The start time, the races covered and the daily limit on the extra payout are set by each operator and are not shown in the card.
What the cards do not do
The cards do not rank welcome offers. Offers change from week to week and their conditions matter more than the headline. Each row carries a short note and a prompt to read the operator’s full terms, where the qualifying bet, the expiry and the wagering requirement are set out.
They do not count the markets an operator lists, measure how fast its app is, or test its withdrawal times. Those things differ by day and by league, and a number printed here would soon be wrong. We do not claim to have tested every operator on every point.
The cards cover ten bookmakers, not every licensed operator in the UK. Several well-known names are not on the list. That is a limit of this site, not a judgement on them.
Affiliate links and independence
The site earns a commission when a reader registers with an operator through one of the Visit Here links. This is stated on every page. The commission does not change the features shown, the order of the default view or the text. Operators are not sorted by what they pay, and a cell changes only when the operator’s own pages change.
A reader who follows a link goes to the operator’s home page. The terms of any offer you take up are the operator’s, and they take precedence over anything on this site.
How often the cards change
The pages are updated every month, and the month and year at the top of each card show the month of the last update. Between rebuilds an operator can change a feature, a limit or an offer, so the terms on its own pages always come first. When we find that a card has fallen out of date, we correct it at the next rebuild at the latest.
Calculators
The calculators run in your browser. The each-way calculator, the accumulator calculator and the odds converter use the same arithmetic functions that produce the worked tables on their pages, and those functions are checked by automated tests against hand-worked examples. They calculate from the numbers you enter. They do not predict results and they do not know a bookmaker’s terms.
