Licence and company
The online brand betfred.com is operated by Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited, which the Gambling Commission register lists under account number 39544 with active remote licences. Betfred’s own terms say the same for customers in Great Britain. Other Betfred-group companies appear on the register for shops and technology, so look at the account number if you check it yourself.
The regulator’s record
The register lists two regulatory actions against Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited. On 20 May 2025 the Commission imposed a financial penalty of £240,000 for breaching a licence condition on technical standards, following an investigation into a key event. On 30 June 2026 it announced a settlement with a payment of £900,000 in lieu of a financial penalty, plus costs and a public statement, after a licence review found social responsibility control failings, including on customer interaction in the remote business.
The register entry states the findings; we have not summarised the Commission’s full public statements. Neither action is a revocation. The licence is active, and the operator remains on this card. A reader is entitled to know the record exists and to decide what weight to give it. The card’s Register record column links the entry.
PickYourPunt, the Bet Builder
Betfred calls its Bet Builder PickYourPunt. The rules on the promotion page are specific: you can combine from one to five selections from a single match, the maximum payout per customer per bet is £25,000, and the bets are not eligible for cash-out. Betfred can amend, suspend or remove the builder for any event. You can also request a bet by posting with the hashtag on social media, which is a distinctive extra.
The two numbers to remember are five selections and £25,000. If you build a long-shot combination, the cap is the number that limits what the bet can pay.
Cash-out
Betfred’s app is described as including cash-out and in-play betting. We did not find a current, detailed rule page on which bets qualify, so treat it like any other bookmaker’s feature: it appears on selected bets and not all of them. PickYourPunt bets are expressly excluded.
Best Odds Guaranteed
On the racing page, Betfred pays the bigger of your price and the starting price on UK and Irish races for bets placed after 8am on the day (the promotion page says selected races, while a Betfred blog post describes the offer more widely, so read the promotion page for the races covered). Its worked example is a horse backed at 4/1 that returns at 6/1 and is paid at 6/1. The exclusions are long: ante-post, Tote and pari-mutuel bets, Lucky 15, 31 and 63 bets, bets using existing free-bet funds, and Super Extra Place races.
The Lucky exclusion is the one that catches people, because full-cover bets are a staple of racing coupons. If you place those, the guarantee is not part of the deal.
To see what a price move or a withdrawn horse does to a winning bet at Betfred, step through our explainers: how Best Odds Guaranteed pays on a racing bet and how a Rule 4 deduction cuts a winning bet.
Streaming
We could confirm streaming only for virtual football. We did not find a current statement that live sports are streamed to all customers, so we do not claim one. If watching matters to you, look at the live section of the site before you register.
The app
Betfred has a sports app on the App Store and Google Play. Its page lists PickYourPunt Builder, Racing Post data, cash-out, in-play betting and Acca Insurance among the features. Acca Insurance is a promotion with conditions, so read them.
Deposits and payments
Betfred’s pages did not agree with each other on the list of payment methods. One older page names Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill, PayPal and Paysafecard, while a newer one names Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Instant Banking and Bacs. The deposits FAQ makes two clear points: Betfred does not charge for depositing, and credit cards are accepted only for residents of the Republic of Ireland, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. UK customers cannot deposit with a credit card.
Open Banking deposits are supported with most UK banks. We found no confirmed withdrawal times, since the help page only links to a processing table we could not open. Check it in a registered account before your first withdrawal.
Help and safer gambling
The help page points to FAQs first and then to the customer support team. We did not find a verified phone number, email or live chat availability, so we are not printing any. Safer-gambling tools such as deposit limits are in the account settings, as at every licensed operator.
How Betfred compares with the other bookmakers on the card
Betfred is one of the six on our card with a general Best Odds Guaranteed promotion, and it is the one whose exclusion list is the longest in our research, naming Lucky 15, 31 and 63 bets, free-bet funds and Super Extra Place races. For a bettor who bets singles and each-way, that is a small price. For one who bets full-cover coupons, it is a reason to look at William Hill or Coral instead.
The other distinctive point is PickYourPunt, which cannot be cashed out and has a five-selection cap. Compare with Coral’s Build Your Bet on the football page if cash-out on a builder matters.
A worked example of the PickYourPunt cap
Suppose you build a bet from five selections in one match and stake twenty pounds at combined odds of 2,000/1. On paper it would return forty thousand and twenty pounds. The £25,000 maximum payout per customer per bet limits what you can actually receive, so the bet is worth less than the quoted price implies. It is a good reason to read the cap before you build a long shot.
Three things to look up before your first bet
Check which payment method you will use, because the lists on Betfred’s own pages disagree and credit cards are not accepted from UK residents. Check the withdrawal times in the processing table in the help area. And check the current racing exclusions on the guarantee page on the day you plan to use it.
Who Betfred suits, and where it falls short
Betfred suits a football bettor who likes to design a bet from several markets and who is comfortable that it cannot be cashed out. The racing guarantee is useful on single and each-way bets, less so for full-cover coupons.
The limits are the five-selection and £25,000 caps on PickYourPunt, the long list of racing exclusions and the gaps in published streaming and withdrawal information.
Pages this review is based on
This Betfred review draws on 5 pages from Betfred’s own domains and on its Gambling Commission register entry (account 39544), read in October 2026. We did not open an account or place a bet. The terms that apply to a bet are the ones Betfred shows when you place it. Pages read: PickYourPunt, Best Odds Guaranteed, Sports app, Deposit methods FAQ, Gambling Commission register: Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited. If a section of this Betfred review says we could not confirm something, we found no clear current statement, and the table shows “Check terms” where that applies.
