Seven tools that do the arithmetic before you place a bet or practise the idea behind it. They run in your browser, they do not place bets, and each one shows its working on the page. Not sure where to start? Read a price with the odds converter, then use the calculator for your bet type.

Open trainerEach calculator works from the numbers you type. It multiplies, divides and adds, and it shows the figures a bookmaker would use to settle a bet. It does not know which horse or team will win, it does not know your bookmaker’s terms, and a result on the screen is arithmetic, not a forecast or a promise of a payout.
The same functions that run in the calculators also produce the worked tables on each page, and they are checked by automated tests against hand-worked examples. The method page describes how the comparison cards are put together.
Choosing between them is mostly a question of the bet in front of you. For a horse in a race with places, use the each way calculator, and add the Rule 4 calculator if a horse was withdrawn after you bet. For several selections in one bet, the accumulator calculator gives the combined odds and the chance that every leg wins, while the bet calculator covers full-cover bets from a Trixie to a Goliath. To place a fixed return across several outcomes, use the dutching calculator. The odds converter turns fractions into decimals and American odds, and the odds value trainer lets you practise backing or passing a price without staking anything.
If you want to compare bookmakers as well as prices, the main comparison, the horse racing page and the football page list ten UK-licensed operators. Betting is for people aged 18 and over. GambleAware offers free, confidential support.
